Welcome to Davis, California Real Estate!

Hello, I’m Claire Black Slotton, a real estate agent in Davis, California.

Davis grew around a Southern Pacific Railroad depot which was built in 1868. At that time it was known as “Davisville” (named for Jerome C. Davis – a prominent local farmer). However, in 1907 the post office at Davisville shortened the town name to “Davis” and it stuck.

In 1905, instructors from UC Berekely decided to create a working farm for student instruction in Davis.  The first class consisted of 20 young men.  UC Davis grew from these agricultural roots with the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences leading the University.  With more than 100 years of research and instruction, UC Davis is a major contributor in the agricultural, veterinary and medical fields.  The Unversity attracts students from around the world, making Davis a culturally diverse small town and a great place to raise a garden, or a family.
